Howard Hayes to Have Surgery

Friends:

Howard was too cheap to hire a painter to work on his new vacation home, so he tried to do it himself with near-disastrous consequences. He fell off a ladder and fractured a bone or bones in his ankle. Surgery had to be delayed for the swelling to go down.

Let this be a lesson to you gentiles! We Jews have known for thousands of years that "do-it-yourself" is a trap for the unwary. That's why G_d invented painters, plumbers and handymen.

Howard's surgery is scheduled for today. Whatever his condition is in early November, he assures me he will be in Pismo as usual.

See you there!

Stu

Footnote on above:
It is hard to believe Howard broke his foot getting off a ladder.
Don Juan broke his foot running from an outraged husband.
Casanova broke his foot jumping from a balcony.
The list goes on and on. Legends, after all, have a responsibility to live up to the legend.
Surely, there is more to the story of Howard's foot.
Perhaps by the retreat Howard will be in a mood to tell us the real story. The night Howard met Keifer, Mel, and Brittany coming out of a bar?

It's hard to believe Howard would hurt himself doing something like this. At his advanced age, you'd think he'd know better. Oh well, let's hope the surgery goes well and that he doesn't take too great offense at being called "surely" by John.
Look forward to hearing the stories at Pismo.
