NORM FRANTZMAN MEMORIAL
Dear Brothers:
Today I attended Norm Frantzman's memorial service along with 10 or 11 other brothers. Most of us didn't know Norm's partner, Janet, before today, but we were able to express our condolences to her. She was delighted to see so many of us there.
The memorial was "chaired" by Janet's brother, Ernest Del, who himself shared a loving relationship with Norm. A number of Norm's friends and acquaintances spoke glowingly of Norm as kind, generous, capable and loving. Our own Dave Peterson spoke on behalf of the fraternity and honored Norm by reading "The True Gentleman."
After the memorial, we all went to Norm's gravesite and a color guard from the Air Force went through the flag folding ceremony, followed by taps played on the bugle. It was very touching.
Norm went out too soon, but if he was watching the proceedings today he would have been proud and pleased. It was quite the fitting memorial.

Frantzman, Norman
This kind and gentle soul, Norman Frantzman, passed through this earth for only a short time and died suddenly on December 12, 2007 in his home at the age of 67, leaving behind his family and many friends with much love and respect for him. Norm is survived by his sister, Adele Davis of Bakersfield, CA, and his life partner of 35 years, Janet Del. Born in Los Angeles, CA, Norm is the younger child of Max Frantzman and Gertrude Oles Frantzman. Norm attended schools in the San Fernando Valley, graduated from Van Nuys High School in 1958 and immediately joined the ASAF serving most of his duty at Edwards AFB and overseas in Ankara, Turkey. After 6 years of military, Norm attended California State University, Northridge, where he joined and became a lifetime member of Pi Kappa Tau, even today meeting with his fraternity brothers once per month. After college graduation in 1962 Norm was employed as a Probation Officer by Ventura County. Later he became a Special Agent with the California Department of Justice, Los Angeles Office. Before retiring from the Dept of Justice in the late '80's, Norm earned his Juris Doctor of Law Degree. He was a member of the Lawndale City Planning Commission for many years and found it very rewarding to participate and help the city to be a better place to live. Brilliant in knowledge and common sense, his humility and caring made him a success in all endeavors. May Norm rest in peace...and he will, because he lived simply for his life partner, his family and his friends, to have a good time, and to give of himself to help others. Cheers to Norm, we loved and will always continue to love that true gentleman, never to be forgotten.
