David Peterson Update on Cal Nu Colony Installation

On Sunday evening, February 17, 2008, at 7:00pm, the Cal Nu Alumni Association installed the Cal Nu Colony Pledge class, bringing SAE back to CSUN after its five year hiatus. Fourteen fine young men have pledged the Colony and one initiated SAE transfer student from the University of New Mexico will now commence the series of benchmarks required to be completed before full Chapter status and full SAE initiation is granted by SAE National staff, a process which normally takes 12 to 24 months to complete. An interesting detail of this process is that Nate Archuletta, the New Mexico transfer student, must receive an up or down vote by the Colony members in order to affiliate with the Colony. There is little doubt that he will be voted in, however that step must be completed before he's officially affiliated. The final decision on Chapter status, after completion of the requirements list, rests with SAE National staff. I feel that we got off to a very good start. It's a good group of guys, who seem to get along well with each other and the key CNAA members conducting Rush, are well aware and appreciative of the unique nature of creating a new chapter and appear to be highly qualified and motivated. The Housing Corp has agreed to fund all SAE initial Colony registration fees and CNAA will work very closely with our phoenix colony during this self-development stage to, hopefully, achieve full Chapter status in record time. I was honored to participate in the installation ritual as the Eminent Chronicler, only the second time I have even seen SAE rituals, and received a personal copy of The Phoenix as a momento of the ceremony.
