At long last a serious effort to bring about the re-birth of the fraternity at Northridge is beginning. We have formed a working committee to facilitate the work ahead. It is especially fitting that Dave Peterson has agreed to coordinate the effort—he was the Nationalization Chairman who coordinated the petitioning drive that resulted in Pi Kappa Tau receiving a unanimous ballot to become California Nu Chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon in 1967. Our interests are to advise in the resurrection of a fraternity that will adhere to the values we held so dear. We will shortly be gathering together a team of brothers who would like to join us in this effort.
There is good news to report. We have contacted Sigma Alpha Epsilon’s national office and had good correspondence with the key officers. Initially we wanted to make our intentions known, indicate that we are ready, willing, and able to work with others in this effort, and to find out what procedures and coordinations are necessary and helpful, both from the point of view of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and of California State University, Northridge.
The response of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon national office has been fraternal and welcoming. There is today an effective “expansion process” SAE uses and this process has begun. In summary, as we too would have it, at this stage everyone wants to be sure that the University, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, and those who will work on the rebirth of the chapter have high standards and shared values. It is critical that we undertake our plans and activities within the established structures and procedures. We are in the days of an auspicious beginning….
